Functionary February!

Get functional in February! If you haven’t already jumped on the Marie Kondo method, give it try. Even if you only start in one room or one cupboard. It has been infections for me. One cupboard turned into another, and another and before I realised I was doing whole rooms, then the whole house and even the attic storage.

The side affect of ridding yourself of items that no longer bring you joy, is the environmental impact.

Last month since Marie’s show has aired on Netflix, charities have had an increase in donations for this time of year. Great if someones trash becomes another person treasure, while at the same time providing charities a much needed income to continue their great work. But think where your non donating pieces are being discarded. Is it recyclable? Is your local council having a IT, Chemical, electrical collection coming up?

The clean up doesn’t stop with the decision to let go, but to be responsibility for where it ends up. It certainly makes you think twice about any purchases next time your out shopping after going through this process.

Certainly having an functioning house where everything is tidy and clean makes for a good start to the year!

Christmas Decorations

Why not decorate your table this year with fresh flowers and leaves. No need for more plastic to fancy up your table. The freshness and colour will compliment any food on the table and smell nice too.

If you wanted to go one step further, why not have a christmas wall instead of a tree! You can make it a shape of a tree of just have fun with it hanging anyway you like.

Eco Living

If we all do our little part it will add up to a larger difference in the world.

For me being on location means bringing my own travel mug or keep cup. I now also travel with a cutlery pouch that has a fork, knife, spoon and metal straw. I do need to add reusable chopsticks and a napkin that I can take home to wash. It lives in my location kit that has all my clamps and cords and bits and pieces you often randomly need on location. If we all did this everyday, image how much plastic we could reduce daily.

Table 8

Winter has definitely hit us.

Loved shooting Table8 June product out in the fields of Rouse Hill Sydney.

Looks like we're a million miles from anywhere.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

If you're wanting to do something special for Mum, your partner, or yourself, Pancake's in bed is always a nice treat. But of course your first choice should be a copy of my book Courtyard Kitchen.

The easiest recipe and the first one I ever learnt to cook.

1 cup of self raising flour

1 egg

1 cup of milk.

Mix well, so there are on lumps.

Heat a pan, you can get special pancake/crepe pans, and like to put a little butter. Pour your batter into pan to the size pancake you like, or the size you can flip easily. Once little bubbles start to form on the top, it time to flip it over. Top with berries, a squeeze of lemon and some icing sugar.
